10 days of volunteering in beautiful Greece, a trip to Thessaloniki, and discovering the magic of youth participation! An unforgettable adventure for young people between 18-30 years old.
Are you between 18 and 30 years old and looking for an unforgettable adventure? Do you want to use your talents while enjoying the beauty of Greece? Then this is your chance! This is more than just volunteering – it’s an opportunity to develop yourself, make new friends, and discover different cultures.
JOB DESCRIPTION
What will you be doing? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers for a unique youth exchange from February 14th to 22nd, 2025. The project aims to encourage active participation in society and promote volunteer work. It focuses on youth participation, education, and culture.
During the trip, you’ll exchange experiences with the group, focusing not only on what you experience during the journey but also on what you can take away and apply in your own community. When you return, we hope you’ll feel inspired and motivated to get involved locally and encourage others to participate in volunteering.
The costs for your trip, accommodation, and meals will be covered. In exchange, you’ll help us during the program week (about 4-8 hours per week) with one of the following tasks, which you can choose based on your interest:
• Photography – Capture the most beautiful moments of the program and help us present the project in a visually appealing way.
• Social Media – Manage our channels via our Facebook and Instagram pages and share updates about the activities, meetings, and workshops with the outside world.
• Administration – Since we have a coordinating role, you will assist our organization by keeping records and coordinating some practical tasks (e.g., gathering signatures, collecting receipts, and entering them into Excel or Word files). You will support the core team (Netherlands and Greece).
• Activity Guidance – Organizing and setting up creative activities to promote social interaction.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
The working language is English, and basic knowledge is sufficient.
WORK HOURS
You will work about 1-2 hours per day (total 4-8 hours) during the period from February 14-22, 2024, giving you plenty of time to enjoy everything Thessaloniki has to offer and to participate in the exchange activities.
Additionally, we will hold 3 online preparation sessions between November and January, each lasting about 1 hour. All our volunteers come from different parts of the country. You will meet before departure to ensure you are well-prepared for the adventure. During the preparation sessions, you will receive training (2x online/individually) and 1x online (as a team meeting) to meet each other, discuss the program, and align expectations.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project involves 6 countries in total. In addition to Dutch and Greek youth, you will meet participants from Hungary, Malta, Turkey, and Lithuania. The project focuses on strengthening youth participation. You will learn how to engage young people in your own community and discover how youth participation can contribute to social change. This is not a holiday trip but an educational journey where you will be inspired and gain skills that you can use upon returning to make a positive contribution in your own community and take an active role as a volunteer in your surroundings.
WHAT WILL YOU GAIN?
• A wonderful trip to Thessaloniki, including flight, stay in a hostel in the center of Thessaloniki, and meals.
• An international experience with youth from 6 different countries.
• Participation in inspiring workshops and activities that will provide insight into social change. Upon final selection, you will receive an info pack and a program schedule, including the tasks you will perform during the program.
• You will gain new skills in photography, social media, or administration.
• Free time to explore Thessaloniki, make friendships, and fully enjoy the exchange.
• Future opportunities to be involved in more projects.
